In order to celebrate the winter solstice, one of the Chinese 24 solar terms, promote traditional Chinese culture and customs, and enrich the campus cultural life of our international students, on the afternoon of December 20, “Taste Chinese Dumplings, Melt Chinese and Foreign cultures” activity organized by International Cooperation and Exchange Office was held on the second floor of Meiyuan Dining Hall, with the participation of the international students and our teachers and undergraduate students.
At the beginning of the activity, teachers explained the origin and significance of the winter solstice to the international students, emphasizing the importance of reunion and family love. During the activity, the international students showed great interest in making dumplings and were very busy working with each other, kneading, cutting, rolling and wrapping the dumplings. At the end, everyone tasted the dumplings made by their own hands with happy and satisfied smiles on their faces.
This activity not only allowed the international students to experience the unique charm of the winter solstice, a traditional Chinese festival, but also the richness and diversity of Chinese food culture. The international students said that it was an unforgettable experience. Although they were in a foreign country, they felt a warm atmosphere of reunion through the common activities.
