Founded in 1908, Anyang Normal University (AYNU) is located in the city of Anyang, one of the eight ancient capitals of China, the hometown of the oracle bone inscriptions and the Yin Ruins, and the cradle of Red Flag Canal spirit. AYNU was approved as a pilot unit for the cultivation of master's professional degree postgraduates in 2011, one of the 17 key featured universities and discipline construction universities of Henan province in 2020, a granting unit of master degree awarding in 2021, and a key cultivating unit for doctoral degree awarding of Henan Province in 2025.

Now AYNU has developed into a comprehensive university with 10 major disciplines of economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, arts, interdisciplinary studies, etc. It covers a building area of 749,200 square meters, a total value of 423 million yuan in teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment, and 2.35 million copies of paper books in the library. There are 19 teaching schools, 2 master degree awarding programs of first-level disciplines, 11 professional master degree awarding programs, 71 undergraduate majors, and 12 key disciplines of Henan Province. AYNU embraces a wide range of enrollment of over 30,000 full-time students.

AYNU upholds quality-based education. There are 6 national first-level undergraduate majors and national featured majors, 11 national excellent online courses and national first-level undergraduate courses, and 1 national base for students practical teaching. In the past five years, 100 provincial educational reform projects and 119 quality engineering projects are approved, and receive 51 provincial-level teaching achievement awards. The students won the national outstanding prize twice in the "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Competition.

AYNU sticks to talent-strengthening strategy. There are 19 national and provincial innovative teams, along with 38 national-level talents, excellent talents of national new century, provincial scientific and technological innovative talents, 13 provincial excellent academicians of Social Sciences and annual figures in philosophy and social sciences. The teachers are honored with titles such as the Advanced Collective of the National Education System, National Outstanding Teachers, Huang Danian-style Teacher Team of Henan Province, and the Most Beautiful Teacher of "Outstanding People of Henan".

AYNU adheres to the strategy of building a distinctive university. The laboratory of oracle bone inscriptions information processing is approved as an only key experimental laboratory of Ministry of Education of China. Henan Province Oracle Bone Inscriptions Research Institute is founded, and Collaborative Innovation Center for Oracle Bone Inscriptions Information Processing and Activation Utilization is included in provincial and ministerial consultation. 17 national fund projects are undertaken. The Oracle Database is independently developed with the global largest capacity, the most complete information and the greatest influence in the industry. AYNU launched the world's first Oracle intelligent agent "Yin Qi Xing Zhi", advanced the global Oracle digital return project, collecting nearly 900 oracle bones overseas, and developed the "Amazing Oracle" mini-program. “Yindu Academic Journal”, published by AYNU, is a journal of Yin Shang Cultural Society of China and selected as a subsidized journal of the Construction Project of Famous Column of Ministry of Education and the National Office of Social Sciences Planning. The "Oracle Bone Inscriptions Radio Calisthenics" created by AYNU have been popular nationwide.

AYNU insists on developing itself through scientific research. 16 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research platforms in science and engineering are established, including the key laboratory of Henan Province, the provincial engineering research center, the provincial engineering technology research center, the provincial international joint laboratory, the provincial big data development innovation platform, and the Henan Province postdoctoral research and development base. 13 provincial-level or above research platforms in the field of humanities and social sciences are established, including the second batch of national language and character promotion bases, key social science research bases of Henan Province, key research bases of humanities and social sciences in provincial universities, and provincial bases for the inheritance of excellent traditional Chinese culture. In recent years, AYNU has undertaken a total of 525 projects at or above the provincial and ministerial level, including 82 national-level projects, and has allocated 165 million yuan in external research funds. AYNU has won 17 provincial and ministerial-level or above scientific research achievement awards, published 200 academic works and textbooks, and obtained 202 invention patents. A total of 1,911 academic papers have been published in core and above journals, among which 1034 have been indexed by SCI, SSCI, A&HCI, etc.

AYNU adheres to the policy of opening-up. As the leading unit, AYNU carries out the collaborative innovation center for the overseas dissemination of Chinese language, the collaborative innovation center of Henan Province, the base for promoting Chinese character culture in the field of teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages in Henan Province, the Center for the Translation and Dissemination of Chinese Characters Civilization in Henan Province and the provincial joint training bases for postgraduates. The major of teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages is ranked as a provincial characteristic brand of master's professional degree awarding. A total of 631 international Chinese language education volunteers have been successively dispatched to engage in international Chinese language education, ranking first among universities in Henan Province. AYNU actively introduces foreign high-quality education resources to carry out joint education programs in China. Now there are 3 graduate and undergraduate programs jointly run by Anyang Normal University and Kyungil University, South Korea. AYNU runs exchange student programs with renowned international universities and has enrolled around 100 international students from 11 countries along the Belt and Road.
